I’ve been riding my bike to work on and off for a few years now, but I’ve always wanted to ‘do more’: there is always a day I kick myself for not pedaling in or when I spy someone else commuting to or from work.
So I’ve come up with a little challenge for myself: in the month of April I want to match the number of miles that I drive with the number of miles on a bike, public transportation, carpooling, or walking. I have created a little Django app to track my mileage. Here are my goals for this ‘project’:
- Hopping on my bike will be as easy as taking the car
- That I significantly lower my own carbon emissions
- Save some money not buying gas (and putting that to a new bike, perhaps?)
- And burn some calories in the process
You can read more about my bike route on the Bike to Work page and see some stats about my progress on the mileage page.
